Thursday, May 20 – Second Day of Projects

This morning after a quick breakfast, Rebecca and I met with Connie to discuss our ideas for expansion of the Trustee Archives. We will be continuing with the numbering system currently in place, although most series will be expanded to include additional sub-series. After inventorying the rest of the documents (1990-2006), we designated these additional sub-series, and talked with Dawn about adding additional series. We will begin next Tuesday with the Trustee series, moving the Trustee Meeting Minutes from the Miscellaneous series to the Trustees series, and adding all of the additional documents from 1990-2004(ish). Hopefully we will be able to tackle the Financial series as well, as that one should be fairly straightforward. Many of the documents have been sitting in storage for years and really show their age, so before we place them in acid-free folders we will have to do some damage-control.

Reading through the documents was interesting; there have been several “scandals” over the years that are fully documented through correspondence and meeting minutes. I wonder what kind of confidentiality binds me in this situation. While many of the documents that we read were marked “Confidential”; other correspondence was simply private communication between various people. Do I have any obligations to keep the things I archive private? Or is it simply professional courtesy?

After we finished working around five, we headed to Wynsleydale Sheep Shop, which required some tricky navigating down a tiny winding road, and we even encountered these:

All in all, a pretty great day!
